Inspiring Lewisham

Welcome to Inspiring Lewisham – a partnership campaign from Lewisham Council and Inspiring Governance.

Inspiring Governance will be working together with Lewisham council and local Lewisham schools incorporating the diversity of the Borough through the recruitment of local people for the position of School Governors offering a truly reflective needs-driven solution.

Our partnership will formulate a communication and awareness strategy to aid local schools through a joined up approach. Allowing a seamless platform for schools and volunteers find each other online is a simple step solution that facilitates local needs.

‘I found Inspiring Governance a great service. There were nearly 200 potential governors within a three mile radius of our school, and the mapping tool also helped identify very local potential volunteers. The potential governors represented a range of skills and experience and the diversity of our community. The system allowed us to engage initially with around ten potential governors who met our needs and to successfully appoint two outstanding candidates.  I would strongly recommend the system to others.’

Ben Jupp, Chair of Governors, Kelvin Grove Primary School, Forest Hill in Lewisham

“All governors play a fantastic part in making a difference in schools. However, the diversity of volunteers on governing boards has not always reflected the fast changing school pupil populations that they serve. That’s why we’re delighted to work hand in hand with Lewisham and its’ schools to recruit and place a wide variety of talented volunteers, hailing from all ages, workplaces and backgrounds. If you want to make a difference to young people and develop yourself at the same time please visit Inspiring Governance”

Dominic Judge, Director of Inspiring Governance

‘Lewisham Council is delighted to announce our partnership with Inspiring Governance. Becoming a school governor is the perfect opportunity to gain board experience whilst serving the local community, so there are huge advantages to volunteering. Lewisham Council is working to ensure our school governing boards represent the rich diversity of our borough, and the recent Everyone on Board campaign from Inspiring Governance reflects this. We look forward to working together.’

Sara Williams, Executive Director for Children and Young People, Lewisham Council
