What do we want in our Christmas stocking this year? Your vote in the Smiley Charity Film Awards!

The first flurries of snow, struggling to get the Christmas tree through the door, finding that faulty fairy light, the ceremonial opening of the Quality Street…the festive season has now officially kicked off for many of us around the country.

As I shiver over my laptop on this chilly December morning, my mind returns to a balmy August day back in the summer, when the Inspiring Governance communications team attended Barham Primary School in Wembley to film a new video for the Everyone on Board campaign, a joint initiative with the National Governance Association which promotes the need for diversity on governing boards and showcases the benefits it brings to both schools and volunteer governors.

The film features four brilliant volunteer governors – Bola-Alysia, Jasmin, Justin and Meera – talking about why volunteering in the role is important to them, the benefits the role brings, and why others should consider joining them. It’s been inspiring to see so many people sign up to volunteer with us since we launched the new video to help ensure children and young people get the best start in life through education, wherever they live in England and whatever their background.

Back to the present, and we received an early Christmas gift last week: the Everyone of Board film has been accepted as an entrant in the Smiley Charity Film Awards, the Oscars of charity film, and now we need your vote!

Just a few clicks and your vote will help us get to the next stage and it’s completely free. You can vote for us here:
