This week, Inspiring Governance launch our new ‘Be A School Governor Champion’ campaign. We are hoping to engage all employers large and small and ask them to encourage their staff to become school and academy governors.
New research carried out by our parent charity Education and Employers suggests there are enormous benefits of governing for both employers and employees. Interviewees positively cited the CPD opportunities; the experience of operating at board-level and providing the chance for employees to grow their professional networks. Equally, for employers of all sizes it’s an opportunity to get involved in the local community, support for local schools who are educating tomorrow’s workforce.
The ‘Be A School Governor Champion’ campaign asks employers to act as an advocate and supporter of school governor volunteering through five simple steps. These include, promoting school governance in the workplace, nominating an internal governor champion and ensuring staff have the time to govern.
