PSHE Association

Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to your community? Would you like to boost your skills, whilst shaping the lives of future generations?

Joining the governing board of a different school or trust offers a fantastic development opportunity for education professionals. By contributing your experience and expertise, you provide effective support and challenge to another school, and the school where you work will benefit from the insight and skills you develop.

PSHE education professionals have a lot to offer in this respect – including an understanding of safeguarding, related school policies and how the PSHE education (including statutory RSHE) curriculum supports pupils and keeps them safe.

Many employers, including schools, have volunteering policies to allow staff to take time off work, sometimes including paid leave, to fulfil a volunteer position, including the role of school governor.

You don’t need any specific qualifications to become a governor – it’s a simple process and once approved there are plenty of resources and dedicated training materials to help you settle into the role.

It is simple to sign up and there is a wealth of resources and training materials available to get you started. Simply register via the sign up button above, complete your profile and search for opportunities near you.
