HMRC

Are you interested in supporting young people in your local community? Passionate about improving outcomes at schools to ensure young people reach their full potential? Then why not become a school governor!

HMRC and Education and Employers have been working together since 2015 to make a real and impactful difference in the communities we work and live in. The governance programme provides a unique opportunity to shape the lives of young people at school by ensuring all children have the best start in life, with equal opportunity to succeed, all whilst developing your own personal and professional skills through challenging senior leaders, approving budgets and setting the strategic ambition and vision of schools.

You don’t need any specific qualifications to become a governor – it’s a simple process and once approved there’s plenty of resources and dedicated training materials to help you settle in to the role. Simply register via the sign up link at the top of this page, complete a brief application and search for opportunities near you. Your profile can also be seen by local schools and colleges so if it catches their eye they’ll contact you directly.
