Inspiring Governance presents at Hallam Festival of Education

On Friday 14th June, Dr Elnaz T. Kashefpakdel, from our parent charity Education and Employers, presented to Sheffield Hallam University’s Festival of Education alongside former Education Secretary David Blunkett. Their joint focus was to look at the research, realities and importance of building bridges between the world of employment and education.

Employers can and do play a significant role in promoting school governance to their employees. Becoming a governor is a brilliant opportunity for employees to gain free board-level experience and develop other professional skills that are transferable to the work-place.

The Festival of Education included a civic event where local employers were addressed by representatives of builders Henry Boot, Education and Employers, the South Yorkshire Futures education initiative, and the city’s mayor, Dan Jarvis. All speakers encouraged employers to engage with a wide range of volunteering options such as Inspiring Governance

Director of Inspiring Governance, Dominic Judge said: “The Sheffield Hallam University Festival of Education is a great event bringing schools, business and the wider community together to shape the future for young people; we would like to extend our thanks to SHU for promoting Inspiring Governance and ensuring volunteering as a governor is high on the agenda for employers looking to put something back, whilst also developing their staff”
