David Ross Education Trust

The David Ross Education Trust is delighted to announce its partnership with Inspiring Governance.

The David Ross Education Trust (DRET) is the third multi-academy Trust in England to sign the School Governor Champion Charter, pledging its support to champion the role of school governor and support staff members to become governors in local schools.

Founded in 2007, our vision is to broaden the horizons of young people through a world-class education, equipping our students with the skills and experiences to become their confident, academic best, no matter what. We are determined to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference and to be the most effective network of academies.

DRET academies serve over 14,000 students, and their families; providing world-class education that will make a difference to them and to the communities in which they live.

Governors have an important part to play in raising Academy standards by using their range of skills and experience to monitor and challenge performance of schools. Becoming a governor in a different school or trust provides professionals with great continuing professional development opportunities. You will have an opportunity to not only play a part in transforming the life chances of pupils in another school or trust but you will also bring the skills and experience you gain back into our schools.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be School Governor Champions. Working as a governor provides multiple opportunities to effect lasting change that will positively impact the lives of young people well into the future. Strong governance giving support and challenge from governors is crucial for schools to continue to improve. Whether you’re a current educator, support staff or completely new to the field of education, becoming a governor can enhance your confidence, as well as acquire new skills and knowledge.  We will be supporting Inspiring Governance’s Educators on Board campaign by encouraging our colleagues to join local governing boards and committees. We very much encourage other schools and trusts to do the same.”
