Clifford Chance

At Clifford Chance, we are committed to working in our local communities and, through our Access to Education Responsible Business pillar, promoting the value of volunteering as a School Governor to everyone at the firm.  We are really pleased to be an Inspiring Governance School Governor Champion.  Inspiring Governance aims to promote school governorship and connect skilled volunteers with schools across England, and is particularly keen to increase the number of governors from diverse and younger backgrounds to help build strong boards.

Becoming a school governor provides the opportunity for both personal and professional development.  You can use and develop a range of transferable business skills and gain experiences in a number of areas such as project management, budget control and strategic leadership whilst improving the life chances of children. Everyone (partners, lawyers, trainees and business professionals) is encouraged to get involved.

” Being a School Governor is an incredibly rewarding role and one which aims to support, and better, the school and its students. The decisions of a Governing Board – such as considering staff structure and recruitment, reviewing and revising policies, and analysing school finances – are essential to ensuring every pupil has the best opportunity the school can offer. The role has challenged me to think critically and to be confident in raising comments or concerns.”
