Employers across the country sign-up to become School Governor Champions

It has been 4 months since Inspiring Governance launched the ‘Be A School Governor Champion’ campaign and in that time we are delighted that a range of employers from all sectors have signed-up to inspire their employees to support local schools by volunteering to become Governors and Trustees.

Since October, we have had commitments from Universities, Local Authorities the Civil Service, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Law Firms, Independent Schools, and Chambers of Commerce. Each of these organisations want to be involved in the initiative to recruit skilled professionals from their workforce and have pledged to do five simple things to promote school governance to their staff and support them to undertake governance roles.

It is fantastic to see such a diversity of employers, from across the country, all encouraging their employees to volunteer in schools; bringing a range of skills, experience and enthusiasm to improve the learning outcomes for young people.

School Governors and Trustees make strategic decisions in school life in areas like setting the ethos and vision for the school, providing financial oversight and overseeing the school executive, so involvement from employers large and small is crucial. We would like to extend a huge thank you to every employer who has already signed-up already and those who are in current discussions to sign up- we look forward to having you on board.
