Why become a school governor?
Our volunteers tell us that the benefits of being a governor are immense. You can develop your professional skills and experience, build relationships and networks in your locality and, support children and young people in your community.
What does a governor do?
The governing board plays a critical role in a school’s success and the success of its students. School governors are responsible for providing clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction. They recruit headteachers, hold them to account for the performance of the school and its pupils, and they make sure public money is well spent.
